Now that the NHL schedule is finally out, it’s time to pick and choose which Sabres games you’ll attend. Ticket drafts are being scheduled, people are drawing up mini-pack plans, and Toronto fans are waiting for us to post our tickets on Stubhub.
We’ve done the work for you and power-ranked the 24 home dates.
1 – Boston Bruins (Sun Mar 31 – 7:00 PM)
Easter Sunday dessert! How about a little Bruin-blood to wash down your Easter ham?
2 – Philadelphia Flyers (Sun Jan 20 – 12:30 PM)
We hate the Flyers. We love home-openers. Perfect.
3 – Boston Bruins (Fri Feb 15 – 7:00 PM)
Sabres and Bruins play five days earlier so we can hope for some residual animosity. Ladies, be awesome and get tickets to this game as a Valentine’s Day present for your man.
4 – Pittsburgh Penguins (Sun Feb 17 – 12:30 PM)
Crosby. Malkin. NBC. Day-drinking. Sold.
5 – Carolina Hurricanes (Fri Jan 25 – 7:00 PM)
First taste of Friday night hockey with a side of hillbilly jokes.
6 – Boston Bruins (Sun Feb 10 – 7:00 PM)
This game will help us cope with our first post-football Sunday. Bruins first trip to Buffalo. Steve Ott and John Scott should be well foiled.
7 – Toronto Maple Leafs (Tue Jan 29 – 7:00 PM)
Leafs fans will still have hope this early in the season. The “Marcus Foligno Game” was the best game of last season. Should be an electric atmosphere. Or sell the tickets and pump that Canadian money into our Buffalo economy. Win, win, win.
8 – Ottawa Senators (Sat Mar 16 – 3:00 PM)
Day-drinking before St. Patrick’s Day. Be a gem and warn your liver now, won’t you?
9 – Ottawa Senators (Fri Apr 5 – 7:00 PM)
Ottawa. Friday night. Nice.
10 – NY Rangers (Fri Apr 19 – 7:00 PM)
This has 2-1 written all over it… but it’s Friday night.
11 – NY Islanders (Fri Apr 26 – 7:00 PM)
Eeeewww it’s the Islanders… BUT it’s Fan Appreciation Day! $50,000 raffle. Jersey giveaways. And God knows what else.
12 – Philadelphia Flyers (Sat Apr 13 – 3:00 PM)
Flyers games are fun so long as Robyn Regehr remembers to keep his feet moving against Matt Read.
13 – Washington Capitals (Sat Mar 30 – 7:00 PM)
Ovechkin is still fun to watch, right? Saturday night. Fine.
14 – Toronto Maple Leafs (Thu Mar 21 – 7:00 PM)
Just sell these tickets now. Leafs will be out of the hunt by this time.
15 – NY Rangers (Tue Mar 12 – 7:00 PM)
2-1 shootout win. T.J. Brennan scores the lone Sabres goal off of Matt Ellis’s butt.
16 – Montreal Canadiens (Thu Feb 7 – 7:00 PM)
Well the jerseys look pretty good, I guess.
17 – NY Islanders (Sat Feb 23 – 7:00 PM)
Welp, it’s hockey on a Saturday night.
18 – NJ Devils (Sat Mar 2 – 3:00 PM)
Good luck with this game because it won’t be better than whatever else you want to do on a sunny, 70 degree Saturday afternoon.
19 – NJ Devils (Sun Apr 7 – 7:00 PM)
This game happens right in the middle of the Sabres incredible all-out push for 8th place.
20 – Montreal Canadiens (Thu Apr 11 – 7:00 PM)
See previous game plus good looking jerseys.
21 – Winnipeg Jets (Mon Apr 22 – 7:00 PM)
Game 47, could be critical? Or the Sabres could have the division locked up by this time.
22 – Tampa Bay Lightning (Sun Apr 14 – 5:00 PM)
Third of three home games in four nights. Stinker alert.
23 – Winnipeg Jets (Tue Feb 19 – 7:00 PM)
Just give these tickets to someone who did something nice for you. But not that nice.
24 – Florida Panthers (Sun Feb 3 – 3:00 PM)
Superbowl Sunday. Whatever.
NOTE : Playoff ticket power ranking coming soon.
