Such was the decadence of the 1970s, that the mid-sized city of Buffalo had three professional sports franchises: 1. The Buffalo Bills, 2. The Buffalo Sabres and 3. The Buffalo Braves.
While the latter two joined their respective leagues (NHL, NBA) in 1970 thanks to an expansion year, only one was set to remain a fixture in the Queen City. In less than a decade, the Braves would head west and take with them the last vestiges of pro-basketball in Buffalo.
