5. Good News, You Are Always At School In The Worst Way Possible

The West Seneca School District suspended a student for sending a tweet containing an expletive that was derogatory toward a teacher. You can see the details over at The Buffalo News. In short, the district gave him five days suspension for the tweet.

I am not a lawyer. I don’t know where the 1st amendment applies here. However, I am a little creeped out by schools extending punishments to how students behave outside of school hours and off of school property. The student was originally tossed from an ice rink during a hockey game for being too rowdy. No argument here. He complained about it and got a five day suspension which is, like, a lot of days man.

This one is out of reach I think. Students say awful things all the time, and if there is no credible threat to the school being made, what on Earth are you doing? You are setting a precedent that you can enforce student guidelines anywhere at anytime against students. It doesn’t matter when or where you say what you say, the school maintains jurisdiction. Even if you wanted to drop a detention on the guy, that is still creeping into extending school punishment to events outside of school property and school hours. The kid swore off his teacher after he got punished. This happens all the time. It was in print on Twitter. So what?

So the good news is that you can end up in the principal’s office all day every day if you’re a student. Enjoy that, kids. Big Principal is watching.

This is what happens when we lose all the time. We start arguing about crap and accusing each other of being impure fans that need to be put through an inquisition. You know what would solve this problem? The Sabres winning a few games. The only thing that can save us from ourselves is a winning streak. That way, all fans can just shut up and enjoy the ride.

I’ve got people telling me that I’m part of the problem if I don’t care that a wide receiver isn’t working at his job when he’s off the clock.

Any fan defending a player who openly admits giving less than his best — for years — is complicit in that player’s team’s constant losing.
