Bob Gaughan watches more college football than anyone you know. We asked him for his quick thoughts on the top prospects in this year’s NFL Draft. (If you start following him on Twitter, maybe he’ll even start tweeting.)

Tackle

Luke Joeckel

Luke Joeckel, Texas A&M – Started all 37 games at LT. Did very well in SEC this year especially against Alabama and LSU. Won Outland Trophy. Could make a easy case as number one pick. Johnny Manziel can give credit to him for helping to win Heisman.

Eric Fisher, Central Michigan – Had a great Senior Bowl week. Top 10 pick. Reminds me of Joe Thomas. Played well against Michigan State and Iowa this year. CM upset Iowa.

Lane Johnson, Oklahoma – Senior Bowl week made him a lot of money. A high school QB that started his career at Oklahoma as a TE. Shutdown Damonte Moore in the Alamo Bowl.

D.J. Fluker, Alabama – Absolutely massive road grader. You saw what Alabama did to Notre Dame in the championship game.

Dallas Thomas, Tennessee – Started two years at tackle before moving to guard this year. Interesting to see if teams see him more as a guard or tackle.

Menelik Watson, Florida State – Native of Manchester, England. Played basketball at Marist before trying football. High upside but a work in progress.

Chris Faulk, LSU – Missed season after ACL surgery. Shocked some by entering draft. Not thin. Carries weight across his mid-section. Of course I like him.

Center

Barrett Jones

Barrett Jones, Alabama – Showed versatility playing so many positions on line. Teams will love that in him.

Travis Frederick, Wisconsin – Played center and guard. High football IQ you expect in a center. Big center weighs 338.

Brian Schwenke, Cal – Very quick. Did well at Senior Bowl against bigger DT’s.

Khaled Holmes, USC – Played high school with Matt Barkley too. Utah’s Star Lotulelei beat him like a drum in their match-up.

Guard

Chance Warmack

Chance Warmack, Alabama – Safe pick. Not too many guards can go as high as Warmack. 40 career starts under his belt.

Jonathan Cooper, North Carolina – UNC averaged 194 yards on the ground thanks to him and RB Bernard. Not too many times two guards go in first round but will happen this year.

Larry Warford, Kentucky – Great game vs Jonathan Jenkins of Georgia. Just a little below Cooper and Warmack.

Justin Pugh, Syracuse – Played tackle in college but like Winters I think more teams will view him as a guard. Teams don’t like short arms at tackle.

Brian Winters, Kent State – 33 of 49 college starts at tackle but I think he will play guard in NFL. Love his toughness played through shoulder dislocation.
